32 Week Pregnancy Update

How far along
32 weeks

Maternity clothes
I literally have nothing to wear! The tops I have are starting to show a little bit of my lower bump so I need to purchase a few more bits in bigger sizes or I can just use Freddie’s big t shirts until the baby is here, not long now!
Stretch marks
Only on my hips and inner thighs, I’ve started using Palmer’s Cocoa oil and it’s been working a treat and I haven’t seen any others appear. I would highly recommend this stuff and it won’t break the bank too. I’ve also noticed my bump is looking incredibly veiny, is that because the skin is so stretched?
Sleep this week has been amazing, for some reason I’m really comfortable and able to drift off straight away. There’s been the odd occasion where I’ve woken up and not been able to go back to sleep but I’m not working at the moment so I can catch up on my sleep during the day.
Best moment this week
My antenatal classes are now coming to an end and on Friday all the men treated us to foot massages and valentines chocolate which was nice. After our class all of us pregnant ladies headed out for a pub lunch whilst the men went out for beers. It was really nice getting to know the other women and we’ve all decided that once our babies are here we’ll meet up and try and make it a regular occurrence.
Freddie and I also put up our crib, exciting! We decided on this Troll Crib from John Lewis as the right side bar drops down and the crib turns into a co sleeper. This was the perfect option for us over a moses basket and should last up to 6 months old.

Miss anything
Just the usual non pregnancy related things like wine, being able to walk like a normal person. I feel like the baby is really low and this is causing me to waddle a little.
Same as last week really. I can feel arms and legs now as appose to just flutters and light movements. The movements tend to hurt, the baby is head down so I’m getting feet trapped in my poor bruised ribs. I’m hoping as the baby descends further down there’ll be less rib kicking.
Food cravings
No food cravings, if anything I can barely finish off a full meal. I still have room to snack though 🙂
Anything making you queasy or sick
I don’t know whether this is a third trimester thing or not but my nausea has returned, only on a few days do I feel sick but once I’ve downed a large glass of cold water I feel a lot better.
Surprise, although we think it’s a girl.
Labour signs
Last night after dinner I was experiencing the worst cramping I’d ever felt, it was almost like lightening pains in my stomach which then also caused my bump to tighten. This was happening for at least 2 hours every 5-10 minutes. I decided to be safe than sorry and called my labour ward. I discussed my symptoms with a midwife and she urged me to come in to get checked over. So Freddie and I jumped in a cab and headed down to the ward. In the waiting area, it was quite over whelming seeing all these men coming and going with worried, happy, stressed faces and a few women in active labour pacing up and down in their dressing gowns. It really hit home to me that this was going to be me soon.
We were called into a private room and I was hocked up to this machine thing to monitor the baby’s heart rate, I was also given a handheld buzzer device to click every time the baby moved. Freddie took this little snap of the results coming through, as you can see the baby was awake and having a full on kicking attack!
The midwife then felt my bump, took a urine sample and my blood pressure. My urine test came back with a little protein which the midwife said was perfectly normal she then asked if It was okay to call the doctor to conduct an internal examination to see if my cervix was dilating etc. Luckily the test came back negative and what I was experiencing was painful braxton hicks or as Freddie likes to call them Toni Braxton’s lol. We were monitored for another 30 minutes then told it was okay to leave.
That was one of the most scary moments of my pregnancy, the thought that I could have been going into pre term labour at 32 weeks. Luckily baby de Metz is happy and tucked up still inside my womb where he or she should be!
When I have quite a busy day out and about walking etc the next day I am always in such agony so I’ve toned it down a bit now and I’m allowing myself to rest and take it easy.
Lots of braxton hicks, a few headaches this week too but I’m finding once I’ve drank a large glass of water and had some food the aches seem to stop.
Looking forward to
A few things this week actually. I have my final antenatal class tomorrow which is all about breastfeeding, it’s with a lady who’s apparently Europe’s world leading lactation consultant, fancy! On Thursday we’re picking up our pram and car seat, since our hospital visit yesterday evening we thought it would be a good idea to at least have our car seat ready at home. And finally I’ve booked myself in for a Clarins Mummy to be massage, I can’t stress how much my body needs this massage! I’ve also got my 34 week appointment coming up next week too, hopefully baby is still head down and all is well.
I still can’t believe how close we are getting to our due date, I wonder when it’ll hit me that we’re having a baby and that I won’t be pregnant forever 🙂
