How far along
This update is for my 34 & 35 week pregnancy update, I’m running behind on my posts as I’ve been so busy this week, I seem to be getting busier as I approach my due date.
I’m getting to that final stage of my pregnancy which means my body is being pushed to its limits so I’ve gained a few stretch marks on my inner thighs and a couple around my belly button. I thought I would be devastated by this but I’m actually okay about it, I just think to myself that my body is trying to grow a baby so it’s going to happen!
Sleep is becoming a chore, I’m so tired and all I want is a good nights sleep but my body and mind just won’t allow it to happen. The baby is soooooo heavy that it’s a struggle to turn from side to side. I also find that when I get up to pee, I can’t get back to sleep and it takes a good couple of hours to fall back asleep. I can’t wait to sleep on my front and back and without a ton of pillows around me.
Best moment this week
Was having my 34 week midwife appointment and learning that the baby’s head is 3/5 engaged. It makes it so real, that the baby is preparing to make its entrance into the world.
As sad as it may sound, I’ve also really enjoyed washing the baby’s clothes, the smell of fairy is absolutely delightful. It’s also really funny seeing tiny little baby grows and sleep suits hanging on my clothes horse. The tiny socks kept falling off the line!
Once washed, dried and ironed I rolled the clothes up and popped them in the baby’s wardrobe.
I also picked up a few hospital bag essentials.
Lansinoh Nipple Cream
I’ll be posting a what’s in my hospital bag/baby’s bag next week explaining why and what products I’ve packed.
I’ve also really enjoyed meeting up with the other pregnant women from my NCT course, where we talk about all things baby related over brunch and tea. We’re going to try and make it a weekly occurrence, especially when the babies are here so it gives us an opportunity to get out of the house!
Being able to go more than 5 minutes without needing to pee, it’s honestly annoying. Whenever I’m out I need to know at all times where the nearest toilet is. Just one shift of the baby’s movements means I could wet myself there and then! I’ve been upping the dosage of my pelvic floor exercises just to make sure that this doesn’t happen, I’d be mortified and I’m sure people around me would be too.
I had a bit of a hormonal episode last night, where I was just in so much pain from the baby’s movements I wanted to cry. The movements are so strong and really hurt especially when the baby is stretching and pushing against my sore bump. What I do love is when I place my hand on my bump the baby always pushes against my hand, it’s honestly the cutest thing in the world! I don’t know if it’s to do with the sudden warmth on my bump from my hand, but it’s so magical.
I’ve gone back to not being able to eat big meals again, so I’m back to mini meals. I’m not complaining.
Anything making you queasy or sick
I have been suffering with a bout of morning sickness again, but haven’t actually been physically sick. My heartburn and acid reflux seem to have eased off, I think that might be due to the baby’s head being engaged and lower down.
Surprise! I think not knowing the gender is what’s getting me so excited for labour, I can’t wait to find out. It’s definitely motivation to push and I will do it again with my second baby. It also gets people interested in your pregnancy as their just dying to know the sex, I love how my family/friends have all placed bets on what the sex is and what the weight will be. Although for some reason everyone thinks I’m having a big baby!
Braxton hicks is becoming quite painful now, my bump tightens and I get period like pain cramps, I really have to breathe through them. I’m also getting lightening in my pelvic bone and almost a feeling that the baby’s about to fall out of my foof!
I’ve noticed that I have some discolouration on my legs, which is strange but I’ve read that this will return back to normal once the baby is here. I also have a really dry scalp again so I’ve been using almond oil before every hair wash. Apart from that it’s just the usual third trimester symptoms of feeling achy, tired and wanting the baby out!
Looking forward to
This coming weekend, my Birthday lunches/dinner and spending time with my family! I also have my 36 week midwife appointment on Tuesday and it’s 40 minutes where we discuss my birth plan. I can’t believe I’m almost full term, it’s so surreal! Baby de Metz is on route people!
