With Max now turning one I thought it was about time we ditched the purées and chowed down to actual foods he can pick up and feed himself with. He loves the different textures and tastes of finger foods and it buys me 15 minutes of mummy time to get a few things done whilst he eats.
Here’s five days worth of examples of what I dish up for Max’s lunch.
Monday: Grilled ham and cheese sandwich, slices of cucumber, grapes cut in half, rice cake and a little yoes yogurt for desert.
Tuesday: A chestnut mushroom, chicken and cheese omelette, sweetcorn, strawberries/blueberries, carrot puff and a little yoes yogurt for dessert.
Wednesday: smoked salmon and cream cheese on wholemeal toast, cucumber slices, grapes cut in half, tangerines and a little yoes yogurt for dessert.
Thursday: Pizza pittas with a tomato base, cheese, chicken, sweet corn, mushrooms and a sprinkle of oregano. Slices of avocado, strawberries and blueberries, an apple rice cake and a little yoes yogurt for dessert.
Friday: A spinach, ham, mushroom and feta cheese egg muffin. Kiwi slices, cherry tomatoes sliced in half, a bread stick and a little yoes yogurt for dessert.
If you’re interested, the plate used is from Oxotot. It’s fab for making sure I’m feeding Max the right quantities of food as it’s divided into sections i.e fruit, vegetables, meat etc. It’s also weighted and non slip so we hardly ever end up with the plate face down on the floor!
