I’ve been forever lusting over having my own workspace, so much so I literally spend every evening on Pinterest trying to find the perfect desk and stationary. We live in a very modest 3 bedroom house and with two children who need their own bedrooms, there just wasn’t anywhere for me to set up shop. Well we seem to have jigged the living room around and managed to squeeze in this desk from Ikea. It’s small but big enough to house my laptop and a few extra stationary bits, it’s perfect! Because it’s natural wood I’m able to put my stamp on it and I’ve decided to paint it. I just need to figure out what colour and where I would like the paint to go!
Once we (I say ‘we’ but it was all Freddie) put my desk together, the next day I rushed out into town specifically for the one stationary shop I’ve been eyeing up ever since my desk plans were coming into place. kikki.K i.e the bloggers dream. They embrace the Swedish design principles and offer gorgeous stationary, gifts and organisation solutions. I knew it was the perfect place to help jazz up my simple IKEA desk.
Having somewhere to jot down my weekly plans, meal plans etc was a must have, so I picked up this gorgeous weekly planner pad that not only looks nice but fits into my gold theme perfectly. It has columns for each day of the week along with a column for next weeks plans. I love that this has pride of place on my desk and it’s so far helped keep me organised.
I’ve ordered a metal memo grid off eBay and I’m just waiting for it to arrive before I spray paint it white and have it as a backdrop behind my laptop. I’ll be using these gold bulldog clips to pin any inspiration I have, photos and little tit bits. This was a lovely Pinterest idea I found and I think it really finishes off a desk and adds a personal touch.
If you know me well you’ll know I love having fresh flowers around the house, so it was only natural I needed to house some blooms on my desk. Because space is so limited I went with a small vase I I found the perfect one, it was also 50% off. It has a gorgeous gold trim at the top and looks so stylish with a few cuttings from my garden.
This beautiful stationary kit was a pleasant find in the sale part of the store. It includes everything I’ll need to create a beautiful planner or diary as well as glitter tape, bulldog clips, an eraser and so much more. I love that it comes in an acrylic box which I will definitely find use for once I’ve used all the bits up.
I needed something to have nearby on my desk for quick little notes, tasks and reminders. Again another sale find and gold so it was a win win situation. I love how stylish this looks on my desk, it even has a space to hold a pen!
Acrylic storage has always been something I’ve lusted over, which is why my entire make up collection is stored in Muji acrylic storage units. I love how clean and stylish this pencil cup looks next to my laptop. It even has a touch of gold at the bottom. kikki.K have this in silver and rosegold to suit every ones taste.
That’s it for my desk so far. It’s come together so quickly and I absolutely adore how it looks. I’ve found since having a desk I’m a lot more productive and it’s actually given me the kick up the backside I’ve needed to get blogging again! So watch this space…
Do you have a desk? Is there anything else I need to add?
