Matcha has fast become a trend in since coming onto the scene in 2015. The powered green powder originated in Japan and offers something caffeine doesn’t and that’s an alertness but yet calming feeling, there’s no jitters with this drink! I was lucky enough to meet with Olivia Nottin, the founder of Matcha and Beyond who is also a nutritional therapist and certified Natural Chef. Olivia has opened her stunning cafe on the Kings Road in Chelsea dedicated to premium matcha drinks and delicious treats. The location is fab right in the middle of the Chelsea Town Hall and The Chelsea Ivy Garden.
Whilst we were there we were shown around the incredible menu on offer, every bit of foot contained the magic ingredient that is Matcha! We tried french toast, their recipe of the weekend an incredible slice of brioche and Emmie devoured a slice of banana bread. All the snacks on offer are nutritionally balanced and Olivia’s very own home-baked cookies are on offer which are apparently a hit with customers. There’s also a choice of breakfast pots with include porridge, coconut yogurt and all the trimmings including granola.
At Matcha and Beyond every drink is carefully prepared by their very own matcharistas and whisked to create a lovely creamy texture ready to be poured into your drink of choice. I went for a flat green and Freddie had a matcha espresso and the kiddies had white hot chocolates.
We absolutely loved the chilled out vibe and the decor was pleasing to the eye and very instagrammable and earthy. I can tell this cafe is going to be such a big hit and we cannot wait to return soon for brunch!
