GoBoat London have just launched on the riverside in Kingston and so obviously I jumped at the chance when they asked if we wanted to jump on board and go for a test drive. GoBoat’s mission is to make the Thames accessible to all in a sustainable and social way. Everyone is welcome to have a go from tiny newborns, children and dogs, there is no age limit. It’s only the driver who has to be 18 years or older.
The boats are cleverly designed so you and your guests can face each other comfortably over food and drink with the large picnic table in the middle. I love that the boats are 80% recycled plastic and any wood that is used is sustainably sourced. Not to mention the clever electric powered engines – less noise and environmentally friendly.
The kiddies were given their life jackets and once everyone was comfortably seated we were given a briefing by one of the friendly GoBoat staff and told which route to take. We were advised to go left towards Hampton Court Palace, Freddie took charge of driving the boat. The boats drive at around 4mph which is the perfect speed to cruise along taking in all the sights.
Although the weather wasn’t the sunny weather we were hoping for everyone was so excited and the picnic and bubbles were open pretty quickly. Even the puppy had a little picnic of her own!
We reached Hampton Court and got to see an amazing view of the palace we had never seen before, it was breathtakingly beautiful.
